My soul leaves my body every time a song on repeat doesn’t loop perfectly. That’s most songs.
A few media players let you loop. In mpv, press ‘L’ to set A-B loop points. In tenacity, cut off the beginning and end. Both make for a fun challenge to get the timing right. My go-to is Mixxx, used for DJing. It’s quantizes songs to the beat, so loops are perfect on first try.
But I want more. Whenever I press the 🔂 repeat-1 button, the song should repeat looped. That leaves us with two simple task:
- Collect loop point timestamps for all songs ever created
- Patch all media players to change their repeat behaviour
I made a shell script that hacks this functionality onto mpv. Please try it. And once you’re hooked, send timestamps!
